ID Requirements for the Exam

To participate in the Danish citizenship test (Indfødsretsprøven), you must bring valid identification. Without proper ID, you will be denied entry to the exam.

Valid ID Types:

  • Danish passport
  • Danish driver's license
  • Danish residence permit card

  • Danish convention passport
  • Danish travel document for refugees
  • Passport from your home country

Important: Your ID must be valid on the exam day. Expired identification will not be accepted.

Official Study Materials

The Danish citizenship test is based on the official learning materials published by the Ministry of Immigration and Integration.

Learning Material for the Citizenship Test:

The material contains 5 chapters covering Danish history, culture, social conditions, and democracy.

Content of the learning material:

  • Chapter 2: Geography and population

  • Chapter 4: Danish culture and traditions
  • Chapter 5: Democracy and legal system

Exam Dates & Registration

The Danish citizenship test is held twice a year - typically in June and November/December.

Registration process:

  1. Choose a language center where you want to take the test (see list below)
  2. Contact the language center to register
  3. Pay the exam fee
  4. Receive confirmation of your registration with practical details

Test Centers

Dispensation & Special Circumstances

If you have special needs or circumstances that may affect your ability to take the exam, you can apply for dispensation.

You may be eligible for dispensation if you have:

  • Mental health conditions affecting your test-taking ability

How to apply for dispensation:
