Before test day

ID for the Danish Citizenship Test

You must show original, valid ID on test day. A photo or a copy is not enough.

Common accepted documents

The official guidance accepts specific documents from Danish authorities, EU or EEA countries, Switzerland, and other countries when the passport has a Danish residence sticker.

  • A residence card, alien's passport, or convention passport issued by a Danish public authority.
  • A passport or national identity card approved for entry into Denmark from an EU or EEA country or Switzerland.
  • A passport from another country if it has a Danish residence sticker.

If you do not have one of these documents

In some cases, you can ask SIRI for permission to use other ID. Apply at least four weeks before the test. A driving licence cannot be approved as alternative ID.

Contact your test centre early if you are unsure. Nyborger cannot decide whether your document will be accepted.

Short checklist

  • Check the expiry date and name.
  • Bring the original document.
  • Compare it with SIRI's current list.
  • Save the contact details for your test centre.
